I love that song "Red and Black" from Les Miserables, the musical.
It is time for us all
To decide who we are...
Do we fight for the right
To a night at the opera now?
Have you asked of yourselves
What's the price you might pay?
Is it simply a game
For rich young boys to play?
The color of the world
Is changing
Day by day...
Red - the blood of angry men!
Black - the dark of ages past!
Red - a world about to dawn!
Black - the night that ends at last!
Had you been there tonight
You might know how it feels
To be struck to the bone
In a moment of breathless delight!
Had you been there tonight
You might also have known
How the world may be changed
In just one burst of light!
And what was right
Seems wrong
And what was wrong
Seems right...
Red...
I feel my soul on fire!
Black...
My world if she's not there...
Red...
The color of desire!
Black...
The color of despair!
Here is more red and black -

Awesome! I love Les Miserables! Cool pics too.
ReplyDeleteLes Miz the musical is awesome, and the book - my favorite ever!
ReplyDeleteHeavens you touch my heart! I adore Les Mis - one of my greatest inspirations. I've seen it four times on stage and have had the whole thing memorized since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. Sigh. I love that song, too. My favorite line is the beginning: "It is time for us all to decide who we are ..." I credit Les Mis and its 'twin' Phantom of the Opera for launching my 19th century obsession. Thanks Victor Hugo! You rock!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I so wanted to launch into "Do you Hear the People Sing" when this video ended!
ReplyDeletelol! I could probably recite the whole thing too!
ReplyDeleteI've seen LM twice with Broadway touring groups, and once with a high school group. Loved them all, even though the HS version was not perfect ;)
Les Miserables the book, by Victor Hugo, is my favorite book ever. So much value and such a beautiful story on so many levels, then to have the musical as well - it's inspired!
