The older I get, the more I realize I love the days of May. The world awakens and beauty springs forward. May always feels old fashioned to me because it brings the old world's dearest things to the front again. Things like picking flowers from the garden into a vase and hearing new birdsong and thinking of rhymes. Taking long walks when it warms and opening back doors to let the fresh air come in. I rather like old world things because they are simple yet profoundly beautiful and meaningful. The old world saw such things and embraced the loveliness they brought, turning these simple things into deeply loved practices to adorn our days.

What You Bring
Some are compelled to tell stories, some to make rhymes. Others gather
to listen. All of us revolve around each other and need each other. We
are not complete without each other. For if there is no one to listen to
the story, does it matter? If no one reads the written word, is it
silently whispered or does it just fade away and become forgotten. Does
the spoken word echo out into the trees if no ears will listen? So I
cherish what you bring, and I hope you can understand my thoughts.
Together we are writing our individual stories that stretch out through a
lifetime, but somehow woven together.

Sharing Beauty Regardless
I've been down a rabbit hole tonight and ended up with this pretty painting by Stanley Spencer called, "Neighbours." Do you think this counts as social distancing? Maybe, as long as they wash their hands? I love that they are sharing beauty regardless. I see that happening pretty much all over social media. Have we turned a corner and gotten back to simplicity yet? I doubt it. But I see some baby steps that direction. Have we turned back to God and shown Him that we have not forgotten Him? I doubt it, but there is always Hope, after all. Have we all turned into Joanna Gaines, making our homes beautiful, bright, and baking up a storm? Why, yes, yes, we have! Keep sharing the beauty!

Movie Stills
![]() |
| Classic "Little Women" from 1994. |
I just adore seeing new {and old} classic movie stills. It's the first view you get of a film that you hope will match the feeling that you got from reading the book. They are usually stunning and beautiful pieces of art I think.
Here is the new still from "Little Women." One I am hearing great things about so far. I'll decide for myself when I see it in the movie theater.
And yet another "Little Women" that I've never seen before. I've always considered this a winter-themed book for some reason, so the watching of this will be beautiful and cozy. Here's to more movie stills in the future and the hope they bring!

When Books Are Art
When books are art {one small example of the many out there} but look how pretty.
Just bought this for the front cover, but I'm also going to read it. It's called, "Green Mansions," 1944.

If These Walls Could Speak
I find myself looking at the art I've collected for the gallery wall, ...like this. Like I'm in a museum. Most of the pieces I have come to love, while one or two will be taken down because I chose wrong. It's got to be that feeling of lifelong adoration, or it's off the wall for good. It's still a work in progress, a work that has taken time, and isn't done yet. If these walls could speak.

Two Months To Go
My breath still comes out puffy white,
An ethereal, airy, lovely sight,
My skin feels frosty, nippy blows
That redden my runny, frozen nose,
There's still a foot of fallen snow,
There's still at least two months to go,
But there has been a noticed change,
Come over all, plain as plain,
For when you stop at end of day,
Light is coming back this way,
A little more each day, I say,
Precious, little, needed rays.

Mary Oliver
Mary Oliver. Her words are simply stunningly beautiful. Her voice was silenced this week. But her poetical gifts will last forever.

Curating
We are all curators it seems. Curators for our homes and what we bring to them. Searching for just the right painting for a gallery wall of original vintage paintings, (no prints allowed). It's amazing to see what is out there for original art by numberless unknown artists who are gone to the ages now. As an art lover, I am amazed at all the wonderful work that is available out there. Here are some that I've come across recently that are beautiful. What do you curate?

Welcome Home
I'm officially flipping the light switch on for fall.
{Is it too early?}
She knows her way well, without the light, but since she's my old friend, it's just a welcome home.
We have lots of catching up to do.

The Weeks of June
I am always thankful for the weeks of June.
They are peaceful and restful days.
Every last one of them.
They are peaceful and restful days.
Every last one of them.
And since all this loveliness can not be Heaven, I know in my heart it is June.

The Blooms Won't Last Long
This is the first spring in the new home and there is a brilliant surprise that I just discovered. Someone had planted white peonies in the backyard. I am loving this little surprise, I know the blooms won't last long, but they are so beautiful right now.
How can you go for nearly half of your life and never know these beauties? Then all of a sudden they are everywhere. Even in your own backyard.

Roses On the Mind
Got roses on the mind after seeing this pretty new art ~
I will be the gladdest thing
Under the sun!
I will touch a hundred flowers
And not pick one.
