Bookish Kinds

For all you bookish kinds out there - this is a book or journal bandolier. It attaches to a book or journal and cleverly holds my pencils and pens keeping them handy when I need them, which is great because typically they are nought to be found when I really need them.

Lovely, Dark, and Deep

This fall and winter has been really unusual weather-wise. We have hardly had any snow to speak of yet, the ground is eerily green-ish when it should have a foot of snow on it. I am not complaining, in fact, I think I could almost entirely live without snow.  While I am not ready to move to Florida quite yet, the thought of a year without snow is very appealing!

There is a storm coming tonight, and continuing through the end of the week that should bring up to 20 feet of whiteness to the mountains. Let it come to the mountains and stay in the mountains. Bring on the valley rain.

In honor of winter finally arriving...,

Which brings up this favorite gathering of words...,

Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound's the sweep
Of easy wind and downy flake.

The woods are lovely, dark and deep.
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep,
And miles to go before I sleep.

                                                               ~~Robert Frost

Which almost makes me want the white stuff to stick. That "stillness" of winter is so delicious, the "easy wind and downy flake" so fleeting and elusive, the "deepness" of the quiet wood so refreshing and still that you could hear the fairies if they were about. Lovely, dark, and deep can be just what one needs sometimes.

Henry Meets Victoria

Here is where Henry meets Victoria

I so want one of these!
A white and dreamy, woodsy retreat with a little comfort added in for good measure.

Not to mention beauty, which is everywhere.

Everybody needs beauty as well as bread,
places to play in and pray in,
where nature may heal
and give strength to body and soul.

The Woods Above the World

The Woods Above the World. I really wish I had written that line. When I heard it, I knew I wanted to read it. It being an ebook. I am about halfway through and am loving it! It revolves around an imaginative wooded world that touches on Keats and Shakespeare and which has all kinds of unique storylines and characters. You can get on on Kindle or Amazon Kindle in seconds. Why wouldn't you read it?

White Dress

I do love a good white dress!

Of course, I always think of Shalott in regards to white dresses.

Or maybe this?

But here is one for keeps!

Definitely the heroine-type!

Beauty Never Hurt Anyone

(Source: Interior Alchemy, buddhainteriors)
Bringing a little beauty to the January table.
Because a little beauty never hurt anyone.

Wouldn't you love to have this as your garden gate!
It's not too early to think of gardens, they are yet stirring.
