Reverie is a Word

Reverie is a word that introverts know well. It might as well be called respite. Whatever you call it, I need a lot of it. Those quiet moments, or even hours, where all is still and silent. Thoughts come in and go out as they may, ...some you remember, others drift slowly away.

Reverie is a gift, a way to clear out the cobwebs, to hear your own thoughts you didn't even know existed a moment before, to listen to nature and what it has to say.

Reverie is a time for yourself. It might be a moment or an hour. It might be all you need to recover from the tiring stretches of daily life. It helps you get back out there.

On a day like today my heart is bound a little less
To the tired and tiring vanities of life
Like a butterfly emerging, struggling to be free
I feel the lift, I sense the give it takes
To send me flying from this earthy place

Barefoot

Summer was made for bare feet, plain and simple. I know some people who choose to wear shoes, and socks all day, and I just do not understand it. The second I am home, off go the shoes, ...not to mention that most of the time, socks never touch my feet. Maybe those little slip on socks that cover your feet do sometimes when you have to wear shoes, but never socks that come up to your knee or calve. Never. Ever. And my shoes must be the slip on and off kind cause those feet want to be free of shoes as soon as they can.

Birds wear no shoes
So neither will I
Free I will be
Gazing up to the sky

Anne of Green Gables Wedding Shoot

One of my favorite book characters is Anne Shirley,
from Anne of Green Gables. Recently, a photographer did an Anne-Themed wedding shoot and it is beautiful. Take a peek and see what you think, all of you kindred spirits ~

June Moon

You passed in the night,

And shone so bright,

Through my window.

Where do you go, when,

Your light fades,

A secret place, and then,

Back again.

Soon you'll return,

To your place in the sky,

I'll nod my head as you,

Pass me by.

Silence Broken

I sat so still and dared not breath,
For the sky and trees were quiet,
Too quiet, so that I began to wonder,
Where were the birds?

I watched and waited and still nothing,
Barely breathing so as not to distill the stillness,
I waited and watched -- not even a peep,
Shattered the evening silence.

There are no birds here,
I finally concluded, it must be so,
For they are never silent,
Their chatter rings in the day and,
Closes the night with song.

I closed my eyes and waited,
I opened my ears and held my breath,
As I breathed out, there was one faint cry,
One small, bird-word, spoken to the scene.

I heard it, and the bird knew I heard it.
Finally, the suspense was stirred,
And the silence broken,
And I realized that the birds,
Had been watching me,
Daring not to peep,
Daring not to shatter the silence.

I sat so still and dared not breath,
I let that bird-word ring out into the air,
And still it rings in my ears,
Like a wind chime with the lovliest sound.

These Lovely June Days

I'm so glad God made tempestuous days,
The cool, the wet, the grey,
...Come what may,
These lovely June days.

Words. Are. Everything.

Words are everything.
Here are a few of mine that came today.
Sitting outside.

Wuthering. Grey.
Blue.White.
Graceful. Patterns.
Windy. Chirping.
Rustic. Calm.
Peaceful. Restful.
Graceful. Gliding.
Rustling. Beautiful.

Just. One. Word. Says. Volumes.

Repeat and Repeat

Lyrics always get me.
I have Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" on repeat.
And repeat, And repeat.

"And if the elevator tries to bring you down,
Go crazy, punch a higher floor"
And that guitar solo is amazing

Mystery

Acquainted with death I ne'r want to be,

Now I find myself drowning in it's mystery.

Where do they go?

These souls we once knew,

Are the things we hear of heaven true?

Just yesterday they resided here,

Now they have faced an unknown fear,

Or maybe it's all peace and harmony,

Just one two three, step into eternity.

O Windy One

Every second with you is grand,
O windy nature who cups her hands,
Over my tiny listening ears,
Whizzing by me and making tears,
Form from the sidelines of my eyes,
Then whisking them off into the sky,
I breathe in deep with every sense,
Every moment every chance,
I will never lose my love for you,
Whether balmy, gusty, white or blue,
O windy one please never leave,
I'll tuck you up inside my sleeve,
To save for those coming dreary days,
When placid nature comes to stay,
O windy one please join me now,
For you are only mine somehow.

Light Life Bloom

My dream came true - spring is here.

I see little buds on all of the trees.

The warmth from the sun goes skin deep.

The ethereal-ness of the sky has gone away.

In it's place, a choral feast falls down from above.

Crickets walk and hop in places you don't want them to (home).

Brightness streams through the windows long after it should.

A flurry of light and life and bloom.

Long after I dreamt of it, it's arrival has come.

Spring is here...
