Charlotte Bronte's Most Famous Story

The new Jane Eyre is coming this March, and it's being described as a "darker, more gothic" treatment of Charlotte Bronte's most famous story. I always welcome new adaptations of my favorite books, so I'm looking forward to seeing what they make of it.

Watching the trailer, it almost feels a bit like Wuthering Heights, which I've always found to be a tad too dark for me, (both the book and most of the films). Not to play favorites, but Jane Eyre is by far my favorite Bronte story and Emily Bronte is by far my favorite Bronte. There you have it.

Regardless, I'll happily be watching this new version, and I love the official movie poster, too. Nicely done!

Oh, wait, how did this get in here?

  1. lol, in looking at that movie poster again, it makes me think of, "I am Heathcliff," or rather, "I am Rochester!"

  2. Can't wait for this movie. I love period films in general, and another high-quality Jane Eyre treatment is always welcome...also, the actress who played Alice in "Alice in Wonderland" stars in this movie -- awesome!

  4. found your lovely blog when I was searching for pictures of The Lady of Shallot. Absolutely lovely and magical.

And I'm super excited about this movie now! That poster is epic. Jane Eyre is one of my favorites. So dark.

Question though...nobody seems to like Rochester. Do you?

    Stop by and say hello!

  5. Hello Hannah,
Thank you for your nice comments about the blog. To answer your question- yes, I do like Rochester, but it took several reads to come to that conclusion!
This new movie should be great, supposed to be very dark and gothic.
